About the artist
Rafael Barrios ( Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, 1947) studied Fine Arts in Canada, United States, and Venezuela. His artistic trajectory dates back to a very early age. He took drawing and painting at the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas, Venezuela, achieving his first recognition with the award "National Youth Painting" in 1963. Upon completing his basic studies in Venezuela and Canada, he received a scholarship from J. Walter Thompson International to attend the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Canada, graduating with honors in "Pure Art" and "Communication and Design".
Barrios’ diverse works includes the creation of large scale sculptures destined for public spaces, where he magnifies virtuality to monumental dimensions and urban contexts, transforming the space in a new visual experience.
During his almost 40 years of artistic career, Barrios has participated in more than 100 exhibits, both solo and collective, in some of the most important art centers in the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
