About the artist
Edgar Guinand (Caracas, Venezuela) is a sculptor and plastic artist with a long career history.
The artist graduated from "Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas" in Caracas, Venezuela (years later becoming its director (1982-1983) In 1964 he worked as in-house sculptor at the Atelier of the artist Kenneth Armitage and a year later moved to Paris, where he lived between 1965 and 1970.
Along his artistic career, he has explored with different materials such as clay, stone, wood, bronze, iron and aluminium and his sculptural work has evolved throughout time. Always with a great expressive force.
Since 1970 he has been interested in kinetic art, and in the studies of the nature of optic art in order to integrate them to his works. He creates virtual volumes in sculptures through abstract compositions made from irregular volumes.
He lives and works in Caracas, Venezuela
